There was a moment recently where I was about to say yes to something that didn’t feel right.
On the surface, it made sense. It was logical, it was expected, and a part of me didn’t want to disappoint anyone. But underneath that, there was a quiet pause. Not loud, not dramatic. Just a subtle sense of hesitation.
In the past, I would have moved right past that. I would have said yes and figured it out later.
This time, I noticed it.
Using the tools, I slowed down enough to become aware of what was actually happening inside of me. I could feel the pull to respond quickly, to keep things smooth, to avoid discomfort. But I could also feel something deeper that didn’t feel aligned.
Instead of reacting, I gave myself space.
That space made all the difference.
I didn’t immediately know what the “right” answer was, but I trusted the awareness I was having. And from that place, I chose to say no.
It was simple, but it wasn’t easy.
What I noticed afterward was a sense of clarity and steadiness that I don’t usually feel when I override myself. There was no second-guessing, no replaying the conversation in my head. Just a quiet knowing that I had listened.
What I’m seeing now is that my inner knowing doesn’t always come as a strong voice. Sometimes it’s just a pause. A feeling. A moment of hesitation.
And when I’m willing to notice it and stay with it, the tools support me in trusting it.
